Transactional and marketing emails serve different communication purposes and use cases. The difference between a marketing email and a transactional email, is why the message is being sent and what is the end goal of the communication.

With D·engage, there are multiple ways for you to send a transactional or marketing email: using API, MMP, or through our CDMP platform. Many of our customers choose to send both marketing emails and transactional emails via Web API or MMP (MTA) while other customers choose to use our CDMP and its easy-to-use UI to create campaigns, upload sending lists, create templates, and launch communications.

Transactional Emails:

Transactional email is an automated message sent to the customer based on his\her particular action. These messages are “triggered” in real time by specific user action and it’s vitally important to ensure that the right emails are sent to the right recipients in the shortest time.

Oftentimes, transactional emails are sent through our APIs. 

Common types of transactional emails include:

  3. Shipment status
  4. Password reset
  5. Subscription activation
  6. Transaction confirmation
  7. Purchase receipts

Marketing Emails:

Marketing email has the purpose to promote products or services. The goal of this type of email is to convert a person into a customer or in case they are already one - to make them increase the frequency of interactions or purchases or to drive up the average value of orders. Those emails are timed and sent strategically to your recipient list. You can use D·engage Web API, MMP or CDMP to send these messages.
