April 2021

April 2021

The first quarter of 2021 is already behind us. We have several features to announce, and we really hope it was just you have been waiting for. No more words needed. Let’s jump into the summary of the first month of the second quarter of 2021!

Shopify D·engage Integration

In a matter of minutes, without a single line of code you can connect your Shopify store to your D·engage account. This integration is a one-way sync that sends your product catalog as well as your contact and order data directly from your Shopify store into your D·engage account for both logged in customers and guests.
You can use this data to send personalized follow-up emails to your contacts, trigger automations to run based on behavioral data, create targeted micro-segments, define campaign conversion goals, and more.

You can find more information on the required steps on the Shopify Integration page.

Branded Short URL

We have added an improvement to our existing SMS URL Link Shortener and Tracking which, we hope, will make D·engage users' work more convenient.

The existing link shortening feature allowed users to transform any URL within their SMS messages by creating a shortened link with a D·engage domain. Now users can easily create and share short links with their custom domain name.

Please contact your account manager or technical support to get setup.

BENEFITS OF USING A URL SHORTENER
  1. Save Valuable Character Space - Adding a long URL reduces the number of characters available for your message. Since an SMS can contain up to 160 characters, every single one counts a lot. With D·engage's URL Shortening tool, you can limit your URL to 25 characters to gain back lots of valuable space for your marketing messaging and successfully persuade recipients to follow your calls-to-action.
  1. Track and Compile Click Data - By inserting a shortened URL link to your message, you’ll be able to create a unique code for each message sent to an individual number. Easily see who opens your messages and clicks through to the targeted URL to monitor the success of your SMS campaigns.
  1. Shorten Links Using Your Own Domain - D·engage's URL Shortener allows you to create links under a custom, branded domain instead of a generic one. Sharing links with your own custom domain leads to increased trust, brand awareness, and click-through rate.
  1. Optimize Your Marketing Message for Engagement - Closely monitor the success of your campaign based on engagement. If your click-through rates are lower than expected, analyze possible reasons for that and experiment with different message formats. If they are high, you’ll have solid proof that your message resonates with your target audience.

Data Tags

This month, we continued on our quest to help you capture relevant user data with the introduction of Tags. Tags are a powerful feature that helps you track information about your audience from your mobile app and website.
Tags can contain any arbitrary data that you can associate with a particular user or device, whether it's their favorite soccer team, preferred news categories, service subscription, or any other piece of information about your users. Using tags, you can segment your audience and send push notifications to some users, but not others.

Tags are static: either on or off, and capture who a user is. The table below shows common use cases across various industries.
Tags are binary, meaning there is no current functionality to add cumulative values when someone takes an action multiple times.
Please review the our documentation to start using Tags for Transactional Push Notifications.

In-App Notifications

Our goal at D·engage is to help you consolidate all your customer engagement strategies and channels so you have a single picture of all your customer communications. Continuing on this mission, we have launched In-App messages, a whole new channel to interact with your mobile app users.

In-App messages (or In-App notifications) are the “pop-up” messages that users see in your app while they’re actively using it. The versatility and targeted nature of In-App notifications makes it valuable both independently as an effective tool to enhance the user experience and as a part of a larger multi-channel engagement strategy.

How are In-App Messages Different from Push Notifications?

Marketers send messages to bring users back to their core product. Email, Push Notifications, SMS Messages — all forms of outbound communication share the same objective. In-app messages are different in that they do not appear unless the user is already inside your app. In-App messages help marketers engage with users within the app instead of reminding that the app exists. This opens up new opportunities to communicate with your engaged users while offering personalized and contextual messages based on their specific actions on specific pages.

Creating In-App Messages

From your  D·engage account, go to Content > In-App to create your message content and create campaigns.

Additional Types of Content such as Pop-Ups, Full Screen Images and more will be available in the upcoming release.

Transactional Content Approval Process

You can now apply the approval workflow for your transactional messages just like campaigns.

Enabling Content Approval Workflow for your Transactional Messages

Campaign Approval Flow can only be enabled by Admin users. Navigate to D·engage platform select  Settings > Users to add users to Maker/Checker roles or change roles for existing users.
Once enabled, users in the Maker role can create/edit transactional content and send for approval to selected Admin/Managers (Checkers). Only on approval, transactional message content will become live.

Please review the  Campaign Approval Process (Maker/Checker) for more information.

That'a wrap for now. We'll see you next month with exciting new features and improvements! Questions? Comments? Please send us an email at tech@dengage.com
